Go-Theatrical!™

Go-Theatrical!™ is The Captioning Studio's (TCS) patented theatre captioning technology system.

Offering numerous benefits over traditional theatre captioning technology used elsewhere around the world, Go-Theatrical!™ has been designed by our technical team with both hearing impaired and hearing members of the audience in mind. 

The features of Go-Theatrical!™ include:

• Coloured texts and caption position used to differentiate between actors' dialogue.

Most of our theatre captioning is prepared in advance of the performance, using our proprietary and unique Go-Theatrical!™ system. The captions are broken into phrases and are "cued" by the captioner as the actor on stage speaks his/her lines but in a way which prevents the text appearing before the actor speaks. So, for example, we never pre-empt the punchline at the end of a joke.

The captions are coloured and positioned on the screen to indicate which actor is speaking. Italics are used to indicate music, sound effects and other unusual items.

If an actor ad libs (planned or otherwise!) we use a shorthand machine to literally write the caption live at speeds of up to 280wpm! In this way we can undertake captioning of shows which include sections of unscripted performance and perhaps audience participation.
