Theatre Captioning

If you are one of the 1 in 6 (over 3 million) people living in Australia with a hearing loss, a much-anticipated trip to the theatre may turn out to be an incredibly disappointing experience as you find that you cannot hear all of the performance.

Whilst theatres are often equipped with a hearing loop or an FM 'assistive listening' system, many hearing impaired people also need additional facilities in the form of captions to enable them to catch every word.

In 2004, Australian company The Captioning Studio developed and patented a unique new theatre captioning system, Go-Theatrical!™, offering a fantastic 100% level of access for deaf and hearing impaired patrons. 

The Go-Theatrical!™ captioning service started in Canberra and is rapidly gaining in popularity with theatres and theatre patrons alike. Permanent Go-Theatrical!™ installations will soon be found in numerous theatres across Australia and, with the support of the Australian theatre industry, our aim is to bring Go-Theatrical!™ to many more in the coming years.
